The Hawthorne School Council is a group of elected parents, teachers, business leaders and school principal that come together to improve student achievement at Hawthorne. The School Council:
- Advises administration on curriculum and policies
- Brings concerns from parents, teachers, and community members to the administration and council.
- Works to better the academic and social environment for all students.
The school council brings parents into the school-based decision-making process.
The most important variable in any child's academic success is having engaged, interested parents.
The HSC is committed to providing parents with resources and information to help propel our children to greater academic achievement-not just with higher test scores, but higher standards of achievement overall. The school council is an integral part of a school's success. Working alongside the PTA and Foundation, the school council makes recommendations to improve the school's learning environment and recommends changes to school policies and programs to increase learning.
