Ms. Lisa Limoncelli has been appointed as the new principal of Hawthorne Elementary.    Ms. Limoncelli comes to Hawthorne ES with 20 years of experience in the field of education all within the DeKalb County School District.  Ms. Limoncelli began her career as a special education teacher at Chapel Hill MS.  In 2001, Ms. Limoncelli was promoted to assistant principal and over the next twelve years, served in that capacity at Miller Grove MS, Chapel Hill MS, and most recently, McNair MS.

Ms. Limoncelli completed her undergraduate work at Radford University, where she graduated with a dual degree in early education and mental disabilities.  While working as a teacher in DeKalb, Ms. Limoncelli pursued her Master’s and Specialist Degrees in Educational Leadership from the University of West Georgia.

Raised in upstate New York, Ms. Limoncelli comes from a long line of educators, including her father who is a retired Dean of Students, her brother who is currently a high school teacher and coach and her uncle who is a retired Superintendent.  Ms. Limoncelli credits her parents for her passion for education because success in school was highly valued and supported.
